I was slacking on inspiration this morning and decided to google “ideas for slice of life.” I found a cool idea for “I…” so I am giving it a try!
I keep rethinking a huge decision I made, but keep believing I did the right thing.
I wish I traveled more.
I dance often, but terribly.
I sing out loud all the time.
I think I am stronger than I ever thought I was.
I really should stay strong.
I need to start running again for my half marathon.
I can do anything I put my mind to.
I like to be around people even if it is doing nothing.
I always overthink.
This as a fun challenge that challenged me. It was hard to decide where to take the prompt, but overall I learned a lot about where my mind is!
I love that this strategy worked for you and maybe it’s one that you can use in other ways. What if it wasn’t I and it was “You” or “She” would that change what you wrote, who you wrote about and how you wrote it?

I have mostly been writing off of other slices this month, and I’m definitely saving this one for later! A fun format and you ended up with some surprisingly deep and resonant lines!

I especially like the last line, like a contrast to your poem that seems to flow effortlessly from one to the next, the “overthinking” is set apart from the simplicity of the rest of the poem.

It was pretty awesome to reflect on what I was seeing and then how I ended. Very much me.
